THE Under-Secretary of State for India presents his compliments to the Under- Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and forwards, for the information of Sir E. Grey, a copy of a telegram from the Government of India on the subject of the Bbamo- Tengyueh Railway project.

YOUR telegram of the 9th January: Bhamo-Tengyueh Railway. Government of Burmah telegraphed on the 21st instant as follows: ----

"Survey party leaves Bhamo to-day, and will probably cross the frontier on the 27th instant. The party, numbering 34 in all, consists of Lilley and three other British officers, a Chinese interpreter, and I clerk, 1 hospital assistant, and 27 followers, all natives.

'Owing to necessity of keeping the number as low as possible, the Survey of India contingent have been omitted."
